Healing the Emotional Rollercoaster

One of the greatest hindrances to human kind is the habit most of us seem to posses of looking outward for emotional comfort. We all posses it to some degree, some more than others, and the extent to which we look outside of ourselves for this comfort governs the amount of suffering we will go through.

The suffering comes in the form of fights in the family, with friends, bosses, collueges or just plain dissatisfaction in life. Many of us are mainly driven by a need to feel accepted and wanted, which comes from a deep seated feeling of seperation. This seperation is true, and it exists, but we will never find true satisfaction in our careers or families. It can be seen by the amount of failed marriages, unhappy famous and rich people, or even just getting what you wanted only to realise you don't feel any better.

This seperation is what drives most people onto the spiritual path and many of those people who go seeking, truly find peace and contentment within. This is because the seperation we were feeling was actually a seperation from our own inner nature, and by turning within we can find the true source of happiness and joy.

All of the Master's of the past and present have refered to this happiness and joy as heaven, nirvana and the Kingdom of God. This joy is everlasting.

So how can a person reconise if they are suffering this loss of self?

  1. A basic feeling of emtiness or dissatisfaction
  2. Problems within the family that always seem to come up and never seem to be resolved

  3. Dissatisfaction in the job

  4. Loneliness

  5. Depression

What can a person do to alleviate it?

The ultimate solution to the problem is to turn your attention inward. To do this it is suggested that a person learn some kind of meditation or spritual practise, read the spritual scriptures, do some kind of intestinal cleansing, change the diet to a more healthy one based upon eating for nutrition and not aimed at filling an emotional void. It is recommended to eat a vegetarian diet if a person is on a spritual path, as it is better for the health of the body and mind, it is more compassionate to our fellow animals and it helps calm the senses, making it easier for the person to turn inward.
